All That You Wanted To Know About Hair Epilation || Review Philips Satinelle Essential Epilator

By

I was 16 years old when I had last used an epilation tool and I use to cringe doing it until I entered the world of waxing! But to be honest, waxing has not been a very accessible option since there have been days when I wanted to wear a short dress and hair on my legs would still be under the skin and yet be visible on the surface. Shaving, on the other hand was never the quick fix. In today's post I am going to share everything I know about epilation and how my beauty habits have changed for good with Philips Satinelle essential epilator.

What is Epilation?
In the easiest language, epilation is tweezing at the speed of waxing using an electric tool. An epilator boasts of twenty to forty tiny tweezer opening and closing that can quickly pull out hair from the skin.

Why Epilation is Good?
Since you are pulling out hair form the root and not just shaving off the stubble, the legs will remain smooth for long. If at all there is a hair tipping off your skin surface, you can quickly epilate it on the go. Epilation makes hair less noticeable upon regrowth and makes new hair much finer.

Epilation VS Waxing?
While both epilation and waxing remove hair from the root, waxing usually press hair flat against the skin, making them harder to lift and remove. Epilation on the other hand lifts, loosens and gently removes hair which is 4 times shorter hair than wax. Epilation is also a great option for cold or dry seasons, when daily hair removal may irritate your skin. It is great for sensitive skin and won't cause redness or inflammation like waxing does. One of the best advantages of epilation over waxing is that it makes hair thinner.

Choosing The Right Epilator
Philips Satinelle essential hair epilator, BRE201 is the new hair removal solution for modern women everywhere. It comes with gentle tweezing discs that protects the hair while removing it. I have been using it for over 2 weeks now which also means that I ditched my waxing session for epilation. I have seen the product remove hair very gently at the root and as short as 0.5mm.

The product comes with Opti start cap with massage, trimming comb, shaving head, sensitive area cap, epilating discs & head, adapter, cleaning brush.

The product has a profiled grip that is extremely comfortable in handling. It has a total of 21 epilation discs and comes with 1 speed setting. (an appropriate speed for sensitive skin). The epilator head features round, gentle tweezing discs that removes the hair without pulling the skin.

Then you have a sensitive area cap, which is is used to to gently remove the hair from your armpits, bikini line by narrowing the epilation area. I used the epilator on the armpits and while I felt pain and little redness first few times, within no time the skin felt absolutely normal.

For shaving on the go, the epilation head can be quickly replaced with the shaving blade. Shaving head follows the contours of your bikini line and underarms for a closer shave.

The epilation discs can be cleaned with the brush that comes with it and the epilator head can be detached and washed under running water for extra hygiene.

This product is priced at INR 3495 and is an absolute value for money. I will recommend it to the ones who haven't been into epilation.
NOTE: Right before you epilate, make sure you have scrubbed your skin well. You will be able to address hair that is under the skin and about to pop out. Epilators are to be used at a 90 dergee angel for best use. Also, try and epilate after you have had a hot shower, this will make your skin smoother thus making it easy for the epilator blades to pull hair.

  1. Love the detailed post Devina. I haven't been much into epilation but the thick hair growth that I get form waxing makes me now want to switch to another option. Also, where can I buy this Philips epilator from?

  2. That's a super post Devina. I have done epilation, waxing and razor and for me razor has been the best bet. I don't know how good is epilation against razor but I am going to give it shot if it really makes the hair growth finer.
