5 Myths about Tampons You should Stop Believing

By

Tampons or sanitary pads, the choice is yours! But if you find sanitary pads uncomfortable like many other women there is simply no harm in switching to using tampons in your periods. But why is it that tampons are not normally preferred by Indian women rather many girls are not even aware of what a tampon is till the age of 18-19?

Well, the reasons are myths! Myths which have spread by word of mouth and believed to be true
have made Indian women stay away from tampons as a safety measure.
Here are 5 myths about using tampons which you should immediately stop believing:

1. Tampons can get lost in you
The tampon usually stays in the cervix and cannot enter any other part of the body let alone getting lost. Also, a tampon comes with a string which keeps hanging out. Whenever you want to remove your tampon, just pull the string and dispose it off!

2. Tampon can make you lose your virginity
A tampon does not relate to any sexual activity whatsoever. Wearing a tampon has no relation to your being a virgin or not. In short, a tampon cannot make you lose your virginity ever.

3. Tampon cannot be worn at night
Ideally a tampon should not be worn for more than 5 hours but that is more inclined towards personal hygiene. A tampon does no harm to the body for up-to 8 hours. If you plan to doze off more, prefer a pad.

4. They cause discomfort
A tampon, once inserted properly does not feel like there's anything unlike a sanitary pad. If a tampon is causing discomfort while sitting or walking, that indicates that it has not been inserted deeply and properly.

5. Tampons cannot be worn while swimming
I feel tampons are the best things which have happened to swimmers. You can have a gala time or a workout session inside the pool while you're on your periods, all thanks to tampons!
