Udta Punjab is the most awaited movie and everyone was waiting for the decision of the court. The Bombay High Court has finally pronounced its order on the censorship of Udta Punjab. The movie became the talk of the town when the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) suggested 13 cuts in this Anurag Kashyap film based on the drug menace in Punjab. But now, BHC has said that the CBFC should only certify a film and not censor it. The movie has been passed with an ‘A’ certificate and a single cut. The movie will be released after changing its disclaimer and deleting a scene in which Shahid Kapoor is seen urinating in front of the crowd. 

The Bombay High Court has said," We don’t find anything in the film that shows Punjab in bad light or affects the sovereignty or integrity of India as claimed by CBFC. Creative freedom should not be unnecessarily curbed; nobody can dictate to a filmmaker about the content of his film. CBFC’s powers to cut, delete or change scenes must be consistently in consonance with provisions of the Constitution and Supreme Court order."
