Our scrub recipes would take only 2 minutes to prepare, how easy it that! And all the ingredients are readily available in your kitchen. Now before we start off, we would like you to know that a scrub requires 3 different ingredients - an exfoliant ingredient, oil or liquid based ingredient and skin boosting ingredient. All these three ingredients are a must have for any skin type and it is important that you choose the ingredients that will work on your skin issues and even suit your skin type. So let's find out which scrub is perfect for your skin and why.
1. Dry skin face scrub:
Dry skin ladies it is important that you pick ingredients that will moisturize your skin and fight signs of aging. You should look for
Exfoliant ingredient- ground almonds
Liquid ingredient- coconut oil
Skin enhancing ingredient- banana/papaya
Why this works:
Ground almonds have vitamin A, E that are important for boosting skin texture. Also, it nourishes the skin deeply and help in exfoliating the dead skin cells. Whereas coconut oil’s lauric acid will protect and soften your skin and its antiseptic property will prevent any skin issues. Banana and will hydrate your skin, seal the moisture content, also papaya will produce collagen and prevent saggy skin.
DIY scrub:
Make a paste of all these ingredients and let your skin absorb the goodness of all these ingredients for 2-3 minutes. Gently scrub in a circular motion and wash will cold water.
2. Sensitive skin face scrub:
It is important that you exfoliate your sensitive skin so that it will debuff your dead skin cells and regenerate new skin cells. You can use the following ingredients
Exfoliant ingredient- Oatmeal
Liquid ingredient- aloe vera gel
Skin enhancing ingredient- honey
Why this works:
Oatmeal is perfect for sensitive skin as it has inflammatory properties that will soothe your skin and absorb excessive sebum. It will cleanse the pores, remove blackheads whereas aloe vera has proteolytic enzymes that will repair your skin cells. And honey has moisturizing and antibacterial properties that will fight acne, breakouts, and other skin issues.
DIY scrub:
Mix 2 tablespoons of oatmeal, 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel and 1 teaspoon of honey and apply it generously on your face, leave for 2 minutes and then pat your face with water and scrub in circular motion. Wash with water and feel the smoothness.
3. Oily skin face scrub:
Oily skin suffers from excess oil, enlarged pores and of course acne, breakouts. And the best ingredients for your skin are
Exfoliant ingredient- baking soda
Liquid ingredient- egg white
Skin enhancing ingredient- turmeric
Why this works:
Baking soda is one of the excellent exfoliators for oily skin, it sloughs the dead skin cells, absorbs excessive oil. And egg white is an excellent ingredient for oily skin, it shrinks the pores, tightens the skin, and reduces premature aging. It is impossible not to include turmeric in your skincare regime, it will ward away bacteria and protect your skin from any breakouts.
DIY scrub:
Whip all the ingredients and slather it on your face for a few minutes and exfoliate it gently. If you have acne avoid rubbing them. Use this scrub twice a week.
Tip: if you aren't fond of egg whites on your face you can use yogurt that will absorb excessive oil and remove dead skin cells.
4. Mature skin face scrub:
If you have mature skin type, then opt for ingredients that are rich in antioxidants and provide radiant skin.
Exfoliant ingredients- rice powder
Liquid ingredient- yogurt
Skin enhancing ingredient- strawberry
Why this works:
Rice powder gives smooth complexion, fights wrinkles, fades age spots, evens skin tone and yogurt have lactic acid that will expel the dirt, grime settled deep into the skin and strawberries have antioxidant properties that will protect the skin, provide essential nutrients and stimulate blood circulation.
DIY face scrub:
You will require 1 tablespoon of rice powder, 1 teaspoon of yogurt, 3-4 mashed strawberries. Mix all the ingredients and apply it gently on your face and neck. Scrub it and wash with cool water. Do this weekly once and boost your skin texture.
