Some of the most famous lines in the history of literature come from the writings of William Shakespeare. Known as the world’s greatest playwright and one of the finest poets there ever was. His endless love for poetry and theatre, his knowledge and humour has had a huge influence on writers and poets for centuries. His plays have always shown a deep understanding of human behaviour and emotions. Above all, he had the skill to present his understanding through vivid characters and engaging storytelling. His works have been translated into every major living language and even after 400 years of his death, they continue to be performed around the world.
Team Guiltybytes was invited to witness the epic event on 7 November that not only celebrated Shakespeare’s works but also allowed theatre enthusiasts to become theatre directors. The launch was attended by British PM Theresa May, and well-known theatre actors Adil Hussain, Tushar Pandey and Kriti Pant.
‘Mix The Play’ is an interactive and easy to use platform that allows you to live out your directorial dream. It’s an amazing experience for those who have grown in a world that celebrates Shakespeare and the magic of his words, and have always wanted to step into his shoes. The website lets you re-create a scene from one of the most iconic of Shakespeare’s plays – Romeo and Juliet . ‘Mix The Play’ gives a chance to all literature lovers and fans of Shakespeare’s plays to live their dream and see their name via a customised e-poster on the platform.
The platform lets you audition your actors. The platform also allows you to select whether the play will be performed on stage or in an outdoor setting choose an ideal background sound track accordingly. Once the user has gone through each of these stages, a final scene is produced based on the choices made by the user. While the first edition of ‘Mix the Play’ featured British actors enacting a scene from “A Midsummer Night's Dream”, the latest iteration has brought together a cast of Indian collaborators.
So step into the world of Shakespeare and re-create one of the greatest love stories ever told.
