The very stunning woven heritage of Benares finds its mention in Rig Veda. The weaves find its name written next to the god as the holy & the emperors in form of a gold silk cloth used it. I love these weaves for their opulence and their understated elegance and that’s why when the Quirk PR team invited me to the launch of Bageecha (Benaras) at Shahpurjat, I couldn’t be happier. Anika Dhawan Gupta, best known for her stint with Rani Pink weddings togtehr with her husband Akshay Gupta has introduced newer shades and patterns to silk and jamawar saris with a fresh take on paisleys and motifs taking the center stage. They come from a family that has been working with the artisans for centuries now, together they are all set to revive the loom and interpret it for the new age bride and the ever enthusiastic wedding market. I missed out on the opportunity of seeing her while I was at the store but her co-designer took me through the collection and that’s why I am listing my favorite pieces from the brand Bageecha in today’s blog post.
